Making Money from a Local Blog
by Matt on Nov 22, 2009 in Blogging
If you’re trying to make money from your hyperlocal blog, or just giving it some thought, let me encourage you to read Philip John’s recent post:
Getting serious about hyperlocal, part 3: Money, money, money!
He lists more than a dozen different ideas that can earn a local blog some revenue, and I’ll bet just reading the list will help you think of a couple more ways, too.

Thanks Matt!
That’s a helpful post. Is there anything like Addiply for the US?
Addiply is already in use internationally, including Italy, USA, France, Netherlands. You can see the network that’s built up on their site.
Thanks Philip. It looked like they only had a presence in a handful of locales in the US.

You should check out what the team at Growthspur.com seems to be doing. They seem to have something very interesting for local bloggers.
Hope that helps.
@Rob
I’ll check into that.

Classifieds is perfect fit for hyperlocal sites. You could argue that finding out about an upcoming event or a house round the corner coming onto the market is news in itself. I’m the General Manager of http://www.oodle.co.uk, the UK’s largest index of classifieds content. We’d love to work with local sites to
1. Enhance their local content with ours via our API (http://developer.oodle.com) or widgets
2. Provide a new revenue stream for these sites by sharing the money we make from the clicks to our listings
