Hi,

I'd been following your blog, and find a lot of interesting tips here. In light of the articles on legal issues bloggers potentially face, I'd like clear cut clarifications regarding some issues like:

1. If I repost articles from the online version of my local newspapers in my own blog, what may I do/not do? How much of the original content of the online article may I re-post in its entirety without violating copyright laws? Is it enough to change the lead paragraph, then copy the rest of the article and post the "new" article on my blog? Or do I need to re-write the post originally posted in the newspapers website and turn it into a fresh post for my blog? Or do I need to provide attribution?

2. Can I use copyrighted pictures originally posted in the online newspaper of my community and post the same to my blog? Will an attribution to the original author be enough to cover my back?

I hope you can help me understand how far I can go with using other people's content, and how to go about using them legally.

Thanks.
