Unfortunately, I've had occasion to do some research in this area.

My blog is pretty innocuous - small town news and events, that sort of thing. Even so, my town has sent me several nasty-grams because they object to the remarks of an anonymous commenter on my blog. They've "strongly suggested" I consult an attorney. Fun stuff.

Here are a couple resources I know of.

EFF's Legal Guide for Bloggers: http://www.eff.org/issues/bloggers/legal

Citizen Media Law Project: http://www.citmedialaw.org/

If anyone knows of any for Canada as well.

The one thing that I'm never to sure on is pictures. Often I go to events and take loads of pictures, with people in them, and then post them on my site. I always concerned someone will get mad for posting a picture of them, but most of the time I try and make sure they know I am take the picture of them.
